NAME

Bencher::Scenario::CPANInstallers::cpanm_local - Benchmark installing modules from a local mirror using cpanm

VERSION

This document describes version 0.003 of Bencher::Scenario::CPANInstallers::cpanm_local (from Perl distribution Bencher-Scenarios-CPANInstallers), released on 2017-01-25.

SYNOPSIS

To run benchmark with default option:

 % bencher -m CPANInstallers::cpanm_local

For more options (dump scenario, list/include/exclude/add participants, list/include/exclude/add datasets, etc), see bencher or run bencher --help.

DESCRIPTION

This benchmark runs cpanm Moose with -n (no testing), --mirror LOCAL_CPAN_MIRROR_PATH --mirror-only (no consulting the network), and --local-lib-contained TEMP_DIR. This measures more or less "raw" cpanm performance.

To run this benchmark, you need a fairly recent local CPAN mirror (downloaded/maintained using App::lcpan).

Packaging a benchmark script as a Bencher scenario makes it convenient to include/exclude/add participants/datasets (either via CLI or Perl code), send the result to a central repository, among others . See Bencher and bencher (CLI) for more details.

BENCHMARKED MODULES

Version numbers shown below are the versions used when running the sample benchmark.
